Introducing "Hungry Hearts," a musical journey crafted by the collaborative minds of Dave Maswick and Steve Candlen. Featuring Steve’s vocals and drums, Dave’s bass and guitars, this lively track hit a snag when conflicting visions on its mix direction sparked a disagreement between the two talented musicians putting the project on indefinite hold.
Jim Mastrianni, initially brought in to play Hammond organ on the track, found himself caught in the crossfire. Unwilling to let this great song go unheard, Jim came up with a daringly stupid solution – he volunteered to be the mediator and engineer to bridge the mix divide.
What followed was a six-month rollercoaster of musical exploration. Text messages, meetings, additional recording sessions, phone calls, and emails, were exchanged as Jim worked through a staggering twenty-four mix revisions, all with the aim of finding common ground.
As the song aptly states, we're all reaching out for a helping hand, and the outcome stands as a tribute to the perseverance of three dedicated artists who, despite facing challenges, managed to turn discord into harmony.
